There has been a radical shift in economic theory since the middle of the 20th century, and a raft of new evidence allows us to better understand the strengths and limits of market. The evidence shows that markets do not exist in a vacuum: they are shaped by our legal system and our political institutions.


20세기 중엽 이후로 경제 이론은 파격적인 변화를 겪었고, 시장의 장점과 한계를 더 잘 이해할 수 있는 수많은 증거가 새로 나왔다. 그 증거들이 말해 주는 것은, 시장은 아무것도 없는 진공 상태 속에 존재하지 않는다는 것이다. 즉 시장이 존재하는 틀 자체가 우리의 법적 체계와 정치적 제도에 의해 형성된다는 것이다.
