What Does Close Period Mean?
The time period between the completion of a company's balance sheet and the announcing of the results to the public.
Investopedia explains Close Period:
Typically occurring for the two months preceding an earnings announcement, the close is a period during which insiders are not permitted to transact a company's shares
- The two months before a company announces its results in which directors are prohibited from dealing in its shares. This is to prevent them from taking advantage of inside information about the company's performance.
- Also, the period of time during the term of a mortgage loan when it cannot be prepaid.
