Close Period

What Does Close Period Mean?
The time period between the completion of a company's balance sheet and the announcing of the results to the public.
Investopedia explains Close Period:
Typically occurring for the two months preceding an earnings announcement, the close is a period during which insiders are not permitted to transact a company's shares

  1. The two months before a company announces its results in which directors are prohibited from dealing in its shares. This is to prevent them from taking advantage of inside information about the company's performance.
  2. Also, the period of time during the term of a mortgage loan when it cannot be prepaid.
